The air show / open house provides many opportunities for media coverage and photography of an exciting air show with a close look at military people and equipment. The Selfridge Air Show will provide a high-visibility location where your personnel can interact with the hundreds of thousands of air show visitors and the acts that make up the show. Some recommendations: 1) Broadcast live from Selfridge during the set up of the show (Wed-Saturday morning) for your weather, technology or entertainment reporters 2) Coverage of the Hangar Dance, Friday, August 21 3) Opportunities to interview member(s) of the military and USAF Thunderbird Team 4) Other ideas you may have Media desiring early access to the 2009 Selfridge Air Show on the days of the show, Saturday and Sunday, August 22 and 23, should report to the Visitors Center parking lot outside of the Selfridge main gate at 6:30 a.m. on the day of the show. The Visitors Center is located to the right of the security gate. Please do not pull up to the security gate until after you have checked in with a public affairs representative in the Visitors Center parking area. Media are required to check in separately on each day for those desiring early access both days. Early access allows you to get into the base prior to the heavy traffic and set up for early shows and photographs. Those media representatives not requiring early access may enter the base along with the general public after the gates open at 8 a.m. Media who enter after this time may report to the air show media center to receive media credentials. The air show media center will be located in the Base Operations Building (Bldg. 50) during the show. Official information during the air show will only be provided in the media center to credentialed media. Media desiring early access are requested to pre-register their attendance by calling the Base Public Affairs Office at (586) 239-5576.
